2015–2016's tvN <Reply 1988> set Korea's cable-drama record with a 19.6 percent peak rating. Park Bo-gum, Hyeri, Ryu Jun-yeol, Go Kyung-pyo, Lee Dong-hwi — five families living one year, 1988, in one alley.
The Ssangmun-dong alley set was built anew in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi. A 3-meter-wide alley with five 1980s single-story houses on either side, plus a two-story neighborhood store — a major set operated for nearly a year.
That alley is the most lovingly recreated 1980s in Korean drama history. From kimchi pots to a single pair of shoes, the art team turned a family's memory into a place.
